Working Together In A Home Business

I posted a blog in a Home Business Club asking the question
"Can a Husband & Wife Team Work together in a Home Business?" I
got some interesting replies.

I believe a working relationship is enhanced if both partners
are competent. The question you have to ask yourself is "if s/he
wasn't my spouse would I still want him/her as my business
partner?"

Now if you planned your marriage carefully then your spouse is
already the ideal business partner. S/he is intelligent, honest,
hardworking and quick at mental calculations whilst still being
a good listener. But how many of us choose a partner based on
their future potential business qualities?

Living together is hard enough and then combining it with a
business relationship could easily lead to a break-up in both
relationships. Not only do you have to work with your partner /
spouse all day, you have to eat your dinner together, spend
weekends together and finally sleep in the same bed; you don't
even get a break from each other on Christmas day!

So how do you go about making sure that your home business does
not lead to divorce? The ideal solution is to break up the roles
so that you both don't do the same tasks. As an example, one
partner can be in charge of sales and marketing, whilst the
other could take care of administration and book keeping. You
could then cover for each other when children need collected
from school or something unexpected happens.

In any business relationship somebody has to be in overall
control. A business can not be run by two bosses in my opinion.
This decision should not be based on sex but instead on
experience and competency. Many people will argue that both
partners should be equal but this method of working will only
work in very rare circumstances.

Pay particular attention to your telecommunication system. At
the very least you will need 2 or better still 3 telephone lines
so that both of you have access to a phone when needed whilst
the third could be for incoming calls or other family members. A
decent answering machine and a call forwarding service should
help to make life easier.

Try and segregate business and home life completely. There
should be certain rooms in the house that are "business free"
zones.

Just as you allocate time for business, leave a certain amount
of time for family life. Avoid carrying on a business discussion
in the bedroom. Do not let a heated business debate ruin your
sex life!

Plan your life so that you have hobbies and pastimes that force
you to spend some time apart. Cultivate friendships that are
unique to each partner so that each of you has a person you can
moan to!

Often when working together tempers will get frayed… and the
best solution might be to take a step back and analyse the
problem. There is absolutely no point in trying to allocate
blame and attacking each other.

Working together can work in a home business if you are not
together all the time. You can rely on your partner 100% knowing
that you have each others interests at heart.

Effective Internet Marketing

Internet marketing is a good way to make extra money while
working in another field or it also can become a full-time
business. If you want to work from home, what you need to do is
to set your own hours, and earn a decent income, then Internet
marketing may be the right job for you. For those who are tired
of routine and performing the same old tasks every single day,
becoming an online business owner will become a kind of
adventure that will bring many new challenges. These challenges
allow you to express your creativity, use problem solving
skills, and give you more control over your career overall.
While you may be nervous and not confident enough about starting
your own business, the best part is that you can begin part-time
and see if it's the career for you. This way the level of risk
you are exposed to is low enough in comparison to results you
might get.

Internet marketing is a broad term used to describe selling
goods and services online. While you can choose to sell your own
items, many people working in online marketing choose to sell
goods and services produced by other companies, which is the
easiest way to make money online as nowadays you even don't have
to own the product to run your profitable home based business.
When you sell company products, you are only responsible for
marketing the products and exposing them to audience in order to
reach new customers and earn commission. The duties like
"packing, shipping, and handling returns" are excluded from your
activity. You will be paid a commission for each sale that is
made through the ads you place online. In addition to choosing
which companies to work for, you also have choices when it comes
to the types of marketing campaigns you want to use and also due
to different level of commission offered by particular companies
you can choose the one paying the highest commission for
instance. The one important thing here is that sometimes the
more difficult to sell and the more expensive the product is the
higher commission is offered. So decision is up to you.

Depending on the amount of time you have to put into online
marketing, you can build a small website that includes affiliate
links to the company website, publish a newsletter that is sent
to prospective customers, pay to place ads on search engines and
other websites(so called pay per click programs), create a blog,
join open forums to answer questions about products you sell or
the industry you work for, or you can swap links with other
websites (traffic exchangers) in order to gain more exposure
online.

Because many companies now rely on Internet marketing as a way
to increase sales, you have more options when it comes to the
types of products to sell. The most characteristic products here
are digital products as usually they are the easiest ones to
promote online and can be used by customer immediately after
purchasing. However if you are able to set offline campaign and
show particular product to your potential customer then you
might consider selling non-digital products that sometimes need
to be presented in person to the customer so he can review the
product and make a purchase eventually.

Internet marketing continues to change as technology changes.
New ways and promoting ideas appears along the time. With the
popularity of social networking sites for instance, you can now
sell your products to a whole new generation of computer
shoppers. You can also sell more than one product in order to
generate extra income. When you take advantage of the many
resources you have online, you will be able to control the
amount you earn and help the company you are working for become
even more successful. Internet marketing has increased in
popularity as more people are finding shopping on the Internet
more convenient and comfortable than going to the store.

So Exactly What Is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing has many descriptions, yet all have the same meaning. Affiliate marketing is a huge business piece on the Internet. It is a cooperative effort between merchants and an affiliate's website. For many years now, affiliate marketing has proved to be a cost-efficient, measurable method of delivering long-term results.

It has become famous for Internet sites who are trying to make some extra or additional income for their site. Every day, people get interested to affiliate marketing and want to make money out of it. But in many cases, these new affiliates do not fully understand the affiliate world and make costly mistakes. In other words, affiliate marketing has often been misunderstood.

One of the common misconceptions that are being associated about affiliate marketing is "selling", though selling is an important activity of affiliate marketing and the central function of a business operation. Another is that affiliate marketing is commonly linked with "advertising". While the importance of advertising in marketing a certain product is not to be underestimated, the fact of the matter is, advertising like selling, is merely a part of the many functions of marketing.

In affiliate marketing, an affiliate is compensated for every visitor, subscriber and/or customer provided through his efforts. The said compensation may be made based on a certain value for each visit. The most attractive aspect of this marketing from the merchant's viewpoint is that no payment is due until results are appreciated.

Affiliate marketing is typically being run by networks and these networks are composed of two functional bodies, the group of affiliates and the group merchants. Each has their special function and role when it comes to marketing. The network acts as a third party between the merchant and the associated affiliates. The network provides the technology to deliver the merchant's campaigns and offers. The network also collects commission fees from the merchant and then pays the people which are part of the program.

The merchant is any web site owner that wants or desires to take advantage of performance based marketing. The benefits to the merchant are many. First, the merchant maintains and operates the program. If it would be extracted, the merchant needs to do their part by researching interested websites to ensure that they are a good fit for that particular website. Finding a fit for their merchandise would be the key to more generated income.

The merchant has access to markets and customers without him spending valuable time searching out. Banner ads on affiliate sites are not distracting to the site user. It might produce interest for that product and drive the consumer to the merchants' website. It is also the merchant who decides how much he is willing to pay for each sale that results from a visitor sent from an affiliate.

The affiliate or the affiliate marketer also sees a lot of benefits. They are a web site owner that promotes one or more merchants and their programs. Affiliate marketing can generate a full-time income for the affiliate. But this is not an easy task to accomplish. They need to have a better understanding with the merchant what the commission will be, expected payment method and time involved in the contract.

The affiliate has also the responsibility to stand for the merchandise their user based would be most interested in. For example, if the site has a user base of mainly stay-at-home mothers, then on-line job openings such as surveys would be a good match for them. This group would also appreciate direct links to children's products and informational sites. Merchandisers often provide targeted, best-seller items and personal support. They often offer sales promotions that will benefit the merchandiser as well as the affiliate.

Affiliate marketing is a great situation for both the marketer and the affiliate. If they would work together, they can be an advantage to both. Plus the fact that it seems to make sense, it is easy and inexpensive way to start, and you can be up and running within a few days. But there is one thing to consider, it is how to get traffic and make your offer different than all others.

Generating Multiple Streams Of Income With Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is by far, one of the easiest ways to make money online. It is a revenue sharing business relationship between the affiliate who agrees to promote the products or services, and the merchant who offers them.

The affiliate advertises the merchant's products and services and gets a commission for every successful referral. Every time a customer is referred to the merchant's site, through their efforts, and makes a purchase, they get a share of the profit. No payment is due until successful results are realized. Compensation is based on either number of visits (Pay-per-click), registrant (Pay-per-lead), or commission for each sale (Pay-per-sale).

Marketers can earn a few bucks to thousands of dollars with online programs. The opportunity to earn in internet marketing can only be limited by the affiliate's determination, creativity and strategy. It is a brilliant way to earn online, and you do not have to produce your own product or service to make a buck. By advertising your merchant's products passionately, you get more in return. Profits in internet marketing usually start small but can get larger as the campaign starts to build up steam.

There are many ways that an internet marketer can do to maximize their profits. If you ask any marketer how many affiliate checks they would want to receive, they will most likely want to get as many as possible. Some checks are small, amounting to nothing more than $25.

While others are large and can easily reach the thousands and even more. Over time, these checks may build up to a really impressive amount. However, making a fortune in internet marketing is not instant. You should put in enough work and effort as well. You have to use your imagination to find more ways to attract more web traffic that can convert to sales for the merchant and profit for you as well.

How many marketing checks do you want to receive? Most internet marketers will enthusiastically reply that they want to receive as many affiliate checks as possible. However, is it as easy as it sounds? Does joining many affiliate marketers guarantee more affiliate checks that really amount to something? The answer is No. Most affiliate marketers assume that joining multiple affiliate programs is a wise option.

Because, it is very easy to join affiliate programs and there is really nothing to lose, online marketers are tempted to join as many programs they can get their hands on. Thus, they fail to give their programs enough attention and work that they ought to receive. The maximum potential of the affiliate programs are not realized and the resulting income from these programs will almost certainly be disappointing.

The best way to achieve multiple streams of income is to concentrate on one program first. Choose a product or service that you can promote passionately. Pick a product in which you have complete trust. The best products and services to promote are those that you use personally. Your prospects will be able to sense your sincerity whenever you promote a product that you have experienced. This will greatly enhance your credibility as well as your product's marketability and will really encourage your prospect to purchase or avail of the product or service.

As soon as your first program is making a reasonable profit then you can proceed to joining another and repeat the process. "Too much, too soon" is a common pitfall in online marketing. Joining too many programs simultaneously in the hopes of having multiple streams of income simply does not work.

Focus first on one program and work on it so that it makes a good profit. Then, go find another promising program and give it your best effort. The question should not be how many affiliate checks you want to receive, but how many "high-paying" checks can you receive. The answer lies in your determination to succeed and determination to maximize your earning potential. With the right tools, the right actions, and perseverance you can definitely make a good profit out of online marketing.

Internet Marketing Without Even Owning A Website?

Do you want to make money through the Internet but you don't have enough experience or capital to start your own online business? You don't have to worry, for a lot of online marketing options exist for you to start with. One of these options, and shall I say the best, is affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing provides first time online marketers like you the chance to market something online even without having your own product to sell. All you have to do is to sign up with a marketing program, which is usually owned by an online merchant or retailer, and start picking the products you want to promote. As an affiliate, you are paid by the merchant for your services on a commission basis, that is whenever you have directed a visitor to the merchant's site and the visitor actually buys something.

Becoming an affiliate in a marketing program is often quick and easy, and for most programs, signing up is also free. But despite these and all the benefits being promised by these programs, many people are still hesitant to get into affiliate marketing. One of the reasons why a lot of people remain hesitant is the lack of a website to start marketing his products with. This now leads us to the question of whether a website is required or necessary in affiliate marketing or not.

Many people say that one can do affiliate marketing even without a website to start with. Actually, one can really start promoting and marketing his products even without a website; and there exist a lot of ways on how this can be done. In fact, many affiliate marketing strategies that leads to success can exist without actually needing a website. Among these strategies are email marketing, offline promotions, writing e-books, writing ezines and engaging in online discussions like forums, chats, message boards and others.

*Email Marketing

Email marketing, or maintaining email lists, is actually the most popular affiliate marketing strategy that doesn't require the affiliate to maintain a website. In this marketing strategy, what you basically do is maintain a list of the email ads of your prospective customers and provide them with articles that are relevant with the affiliate products and programs you are promoting. Articles that you provide your contacts with need not always be promotional, for many individuals find such types of email annoying. Rather, it would be better if you provide them with something informative and just add small text ads that link to your merchant's site.

*Offline Promotion

There are many ways on how you can promote your products offline. Among the common medium used for such promotions are classified ads, brochures and flyers. Classified ads would generally work better compared to the other two because classified ads in periodicals often get a wider audience.

*Writing Free e-books

If you have a knack in writing, writing an e-book can be the best way for you to promote your affiliate products in the absence of an actual website. Just like in emails and newsletters, your readers would better appreciate your e-book if it is not too promotional but rather informative. Be sure, however, to make the contents of your e-books relative to the actual affiliate products you are promoting. And just like in email marketing, you can just place text ads or banners somewhere near the end of your e-book that links to the merchant's site.

*Writing Free Ezines

Ezines are publications or articles that aim to inform individuals about a particular topic. If you don't have a website and yet want to be an affiliate, you can well use ezines to promote your products or to insert links to your merchant's site. If you have a website, your ezine article may actually work well as content for your site. But since you have no website, you can just submit your free ezine articles to various websites that hosts ezines, like goarticles.com, ezinearticles.com and others.

*Online discussions (Forums, Chats, Message Boards, etc.)

With or without a website, you just can't ignore online discussions because they are great venues for marketing your affiliate products. In chats, forums, message boards and discussion boards with topics related to your products, you can easily find people who may be interested with the products you are promoting.

With all these strategies, it may appear that one really doesn't need to have a website to start marketing his products and promoting his programs. Well, starting in an affiliate program without a website may be easy, but getting successful in affiliate marketing without a website is another thing. While one can actually gain enormous success without a website, it is a rare instance that "newbies" like you can reach the same levels of success.

Having a website is not really a pre-requisite in entering into an affiliate program, unless otherwise the program owner would require you to have one. But while this is so, I would still recommend that you have for yourself a website, if not now, then maybe at a later time. Having a website creates a lot of advantages. For one, it provides you a place where you can creatively promote not only one of your affiliate products but all of your products. With a website, you can also advertise your affiliate products to a wider market.

Again, having a website is not a requirement in affiliate marketing. But with the advantages that a website can provide, I'd rather have one for myself and make affiliate marketing a lot easier for me.

Choosing Affiliate Programs To Promote-Less Is More

Ask questions first before you join an affiliate program. Do a little research about the choices of program that you intend to join into. Get some answers because they will be the deciding point of what you will be achieving later on.

Will it cost you anything to join? Most affiliate programs being offered today are absolutely free of charge. So why settle for those that charge you some dollars before joining.

When do they issue the commission checks? Every program is different. Some issue their checks once a month, every quarter, etc. Select the one that is suited to your payment time choice. Many affiliate programs are setting a minimum earned commission amount that an affiliate must meet or exceed in order for their checks to be issued.

What is the hit per sale ratio? This is the average number of hits to a banner or text link it takes to generate a sale based on all affiliate statistics. This factor is extremely important because this will tell you how much traffic you must generate before you can earn a commission from the sale.

How are referrals from an affiliate's site tracked and for how long do they remain in the system? You need to be confident on the program enough to track those people you refer from your site. This is the only way that you can credit for a sale. The period of time that those people stay in the system is also important. This is because some visitors do not buy initially but may want to return later to make the purchase. Know if you will still get credit for the sale if it is done some months from a certain day.

What are the kinds of affiliate stats available? Your choice of affiliate program should be capable of offering detailed stats. They should be available online anytime you decide to check them out. Constantly checking your individual stats is important to know how many impressions, hits and sales are already generated from your site. Impressions are the number of times the banner or text link was viewed by a visitor of your site. A hit is the one clicking on the banner or text links.

Does the affiliate program also pay for the hits and impressions besides the commissions on sales? It is important that impressions and hits are also paid, as this will add to the earnings you get from the sales commission. This is especially important if the program you are in offers low sales to be able to hit ratio.

Who is the online retailer? Find out whom you are doing business with to know if it is really a solid company. Know the products they are selling and the average amount they are achieving. The more you know about the retailer offering you the affiliate program, the easier it will be for you to know if that program is really for you and your site.

Is the affiliate a one tier or two tier program? A single tier program pays you only for the business you yourself have generated. A two tier program pays you for the business, plus it also pays you a commission on the on the sales generated by any affiliate you sponsor in your program. Some two-tier programs are even paying small fees on each new affiliate you sponsor. More like a recruitment fee.

Lastly, what is the amount of commission paid? 5% - 20% is the commission paid by most programs. .01% - .05% is the amount paid for each hit. If you find a program that also pays for impressions, the amount paid is not much at all. As you can see from the figures, you will now understand why the average sales amount and hit to sale ratio is important.

These are just some of the questions that needed answering first before you enter into an affiliate program. You should be familiar with the many important aspects that your chosen program should have before incorporating them into your website. Try to ask your affiliate program choices these questions. These can help you select the right program for you site from among the many available.

Use Affiliate Marketing To Generate Multiple Streams Of Income

Have you ever heard or read the phrase "multiple streams of income" before? Do you know what this phrase means? For many businessmen, creating multiple streams of income online or offline is one way of securing themselves as well as their businesses in the future. They also believe that it can also save them from the so-called famine effect in the business industry.

Once you are engaged in affiliate marketing business, it is advisable if you have multiple streams of affiliate marketing income so that if one of those income streams vanished, it will not upset you the way losing your sole stream would. If you depend on just one source of income and this single stream has been downsized or has lain off, you'll surely find yourself bankrupted and hopeless. Try to ask the most successful online entrepreneurs, and you'll discover that they have established multiple streams of online income.

There is a businessman that said and attested that the very first step you must take in creating multiple streams of income is to assess or evaluate your resources. Start by assessing yourself first. Jot down your answers to the following questions: What are the talents, abilities, strength and gears that you possess? Are you gifted with excellent and creative writing skills? Can you do well at sales? Are you good in communicating with people? Are you born with an artistic skill or unique ability that other people don't have? Through this, you can determine the kind of business where can possibly excel.

Write these all down because it can be used as a resource. Consider also your friends and family. Find out what do they possess that you have access to. Remember that no man is an island. Through this, you can be assured that you won't experience crisis if ever one of your web merchants closed his/her program.

However, you should choose only those affiliate programs that interest you so that you can effectively advertise and promote them. Don't ever be tempted into signing up for numerous affiliate programs in the hope that one of them will bring income. Select wisely and don't be engaged in selling products you know nothing about. Go with the stuff that jives with your enthusiasm; your passion can capture your client by the nose and guide him/her to your affiliate link.

You should also work hard to make your multiple streams of income more stable. You can do this by embracing some strategies and tactics and by developing within yourself, some traits that can help you become successful in any kind of business such as patience, persistence and thirst for knowledge.

Lastly, just remember the adage that says "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." So that if one of them is lost, you can still have some to make omelets. And what do these eggs have to do with multiple streams of affiliate income? Well, it goes without saying that the more streams of income you possess, the bigger and better your money lake becomes.

Internet Home Business - Where Do I Start?

Starting a home based internet business does not require a huge monetary investment or highly specialized computer and internet expertise. In fact, it is surprisingly easy and inexpensive to create a money-making website. While you do have expenses when starting a home based internet business, they are very minor when you compare them to the expenses involved in starting a traditional business.

For example, for a traditional business you need a location or storefront and there are lease or rental fees associated with the building, which could cost you thousands per month. With an internet business, you have the cost of monthly hosting which can be as low as $10/mth.

If you are feeling overwhelmed or frozen with fear of the unknown, then you need to read further. It is not that scary or overwhelming if your break it up into smaller pieces. The following list will help you gather your thoughts and move you in the right direction.

1. Determine how much money you will have to invest in your online business. You will need to budget for the services, products, tools, and educational resources required for your business. At a minimum, you need a domain name, a web host, and a website to start.

2. Decide on your niche, theme, product or service. You have many options such as creating a website or blog, promoting affiliate products, or selling merchandise in online auctions just to name a few. If you are going to sell products on your own website, you will need a supplier and shopping cart software. If you want a theme-based website, then you need a gather a database of articles and information to present to your visitors. You will need to do some market research to find out how much interest there is in your product or service. Start thinking about how you can set yourself apart from the competition.

3. Starting an online business without educating yourself is not advisable. It is fine to be eager and excited about getting started, but you are jeopardizing your chances of success by jumping into an internet business without a good foundation. Get all the information you can, but also invest in the best information and education products. The more you learn the easier the process will be for you. Do not feel like you have to learn everything before you get started. You just need to get a good foundation because after that, you will learn by doing.

4. By educating yourself, you will be able to identify which tools you will need to start and promote your business. Understand that probably the most important aspect of your business will be the marketing of your website. An incredible website is nothing without visitors. Without the visitors, you have not even a remote chance of making sales. Every website owner will need traffic and marketing tools, such as autoresponders and pay per click advertising. Learn all the options for marketing your website to increase traffic and sales.

5. Manage your time wisely. This is a constant challenge for a lot of home based business owners. It is so easy to become distracted when you are at home, more so than in the traditional workplace. Set a schedule and set goals for what you want to accomplish and when. Write down the goals you need to accomplish for the day and cross them off as you finish them. This may sound simplistic but it really does help to keep you on track.

6. Make a commitment and do not treat this like a hobby. Do not get into your internet home business thinking it is okay if you do not succeed. Instead, move forward knowing that you will succeed. Commit to do whatever it takes to make it happen. Keep focused on your goals and have the belief and confidence in yourself that you can achieve them.

You see, it is not difficult at all to start a home based business. Building a home based internet business is achievable for almost anyone who has the desire and willingness to do what it takes to make it happen. The Meaning Of Commitment To Your Business

By Ann Moss

Do you feel that you are committed to your business? How can
you tell? Commitment is not something that you can directly see.
There are two characteristics that show commitment – focus and
personal sacrifices.

First, you will show a focused or having a single-minded
purpose in what you are doing. Everything that you do would be
directed toward making your business better. Sometimes this
focus can be so strong that it will appear that you have
blinders on. Many people will say that you have "tunnel vision".
You don't see anything outside of your focus going on around
you.

I can tell you from experience that my husband is always saying
that I "tune out" and live in my "own little world". I get so
focused that I lose sight of what is going on around me. He has
learned over the last 29 years that when my office door is shut,
that I will only come out when I am done with what I am working
on.

Second, you will be willing to make personal sacrifices to
reach your goals. This can be as simple as giving up an hour of
television a day to work on your business. Others will tell you
that if you watch any television that you are not committed. I
don't agree with this one. When I am focused, I am focused. But
everyone needs to get away from time to time. Don't let your
family life become a personal sacrifice.

I can give you one example of focus and personal sacrifice in
working with the MasterMind Pros Team. Now our Team is a group
of coaches/mentors that helps others learn Affiliate Marketing
and other skills involved in running a business. After a
training conference ended on one Friday night at 9:00pm, our
team started working on refining a new landing page for our
website. At 2:00am, we were just finishing up. Not once during
this time did anyone say "it's getting late, let's finish
tomorrow". We were all focused on getting our task done and
didn't quit until it was completed. Did we sacrifice some sleep
– yes, in fact many of us were up early to support Frank in his
AdWords training class on Saturday morning at 7:00am. This is
the commitment that our team has to our business and to our
customers.

People need to attach a meaning to the sacrifice. If this
sacrifice does not provide them with a sense of achievement,
they will not be willing to do it.

Commitment follows meaning. A job is only a job until you
identify with it and see the meaning in what you are doing and
why you are doing it. People do not sacrifice unless what they
are doing has meaning. To make that sacrifice, you need to see
how what you are doing impacts your business.

Commitment is a willingness to look for a new and better way to
do something and then do it. It focuses on eliminating
procrastinating and confronting head on what is not working.
This spirit of commitment allows a person to take risks they
would not have taken before. This risk is looking to the future
instead of rehashing the past.

In summary, commitment will be evident in the focus that you
apply toward your own goals. The surest measure of commitment is
in the personal sacrifices you are willing to make to achieve
your goals. James Womack has stated that "Commitment unlocks the
doors of imagination, allows vision, and gives us the "right
stuff" to turn our dreams into reality." So – how committed are
you?
